Woods Hole Child Center Clothing Sale: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! An Event of Shared Community and Cooperation
Woods Hole Child Center Clothing Sale: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
An Event of Shared Community and Cooperation
On Saturday October 21st, the Woods Hole Child Center will be hosting its 31st annual clothing sale at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Hall on the Falmouth Village Green. The selection of clothing is enormous and includes outerwear, women’s and men’s casuals and professional attire, children’s clothing, shoes, some children’s equipment, and Halloween costumes.
Doors open at 9am. Clothing is priced very reasonably, most items priced between $1-$5. The sale ends with a “$5-a-bag” blitz from 2-3pm. This is a very popular part of the event and many who shop earlier in the day return for this bargain bonanza. Proceeds from the clothing sale will help cover the Center’s operational expenses.
The Woods Hole Child Center Clothing Sale has been a staple in the lives of many Falmouth and greater Cape Cod residents. Many hands pitch in to make light work of this event and clothing donations are always welcome. The Child Center accepts gently used clothing and equipment, and they are happy to sell items on consignment with a 50/50 split. Interested donors are encouraged to visit the website and click on the tab labeled “clothing sale” or contact the Child Center at 508-548-1773 for more information. Clothing drop off is scheduled for Friday, October 20th from 9am-12pm, at St. Barnabas Hall.
The quality of clothing should be mentioned too. Year after year, shoppers are astounded at the bargains that are available. In a time of increasing awareness of our responsibility to reduce our impact on the environment, recycling clothing in this manner makes this truly a “green” event!
In order to further benefit the community, the WHCC would like to work with other local charitable entities by offering them the opportunity to come pick up the clothing at the end of the sale. This must be pre-arranged through the Child Center.
I was invited to attend the PreSale event for the Cape Kids’ Treasures Consignment Sale in Osterville this evening to see what the buzz was all about. The sale takes place this weekend in Osterville, behind Wimpy’s Restaurant in the old Savant building. It was started by Dawn Atsalis, a local mom of two, began in the fall of 2010 and has thrived since. I have never attended this biannual event until this year. I was very impressed and they have found a new customer with me. I would suggest getting there early this weekend as this is a must attend event and very popular.
Moms can opt to either come and shop, cosign, volunteer, or any combination of those mentioned. There are over 29,000 items for sale and the items consist of kids clothing, toys, swings, cribs, changing tables, strollers, toys of ALL kinds, DVDs, books, shoes, hats, pack and plays, baby carriers, basically almost anything you could possibly need. They do accept cash as well as credit cards. We highly recommend leaving the kids at home for this sale event as you will not want to be distracted while you see the amazing deals!
One of my major problems when shopping for my son is it can be tough in stores finding a good selection. It is usually hit or miss at most places but I have found where all the great stuff goes, the Cape Kids’ Treasures Sale. I found some amazing pieces at some pretty fantastic prices at this sale and I’ll be sharing some of those finds tomorrow on this post. I also found an amazing girls section too! I was able to purchase a whole upcoming season wardrobe for my son, a few presents for family members and a few extra items as well for a total that did not break the bank. I am thrilled to have discovered this sale finally, better late than never.
I have to give a thank you to local rep, Nicole McFarland, who is a tax associate from HR Block at the Bell Tower Mall in Centerville. She handed out little mom survival bags which included water (a must have while shopping), crayons, and a few other things that you will most likely find as a standard in my purse. You are given the option to grab a bag before you enter. I suspect there are a limited number so it would be a good idea to bring one of your own or you can opt for a tote, which they provide a few.
Some of the great things you may not know about this event is that they also give back to local non profits. They accept all sizes of diapers. They collect the diapers and bring them to A Baby Center, where the diapers can be distributed to needy moms. The consignors also have the option after the event ends to come and take back their merchandise or let it be donated to A Baby Center, Safe Harbor Shelter (for women & children) in Hyannis, Angel House in Hyannis and Cradles to Crayons as well as other local organizations.
Check out some more information to know including hours, sale times, etc. This is definitely an event to mark on the calendar and be sure to consign as well as attend because you will get more bang for your buck!

You won't want to miss this SALE!!

I can’t believe that a month has gone by! In the past month I feel like so much has happened. I’ve had the pleasure of hosting four successful parties. I’ve also met two of my companies start swell goals, earned free gifts from Thirty-One, was third on my team for September sales, and booked parties in November and December! I’m so excited! Whew……I’m exhausted thinking back on it. But it’s been so much fun!
Don’t mind my feet in this picture J I wasn’t feeling too well when I took it, but I was really excited to meet my first selling goal and get a gift from Thirty-One.
And then, just the other day I got more gifts for meeting my sales goals! Woo hoo!
I have NEVER thought that I would enjoy direct sales, but I am. It’s giving me a chance to challenge myself, meet and reconnect with people, and get out of my comfort zone. This weekend I will have the opportunity to leave my comfort zone a little more, I’m going to be at a vendor fair, selling some of Thirty-One’s product’s and trying to get my name out in the community so that I can book more parties. I am trying to get out of my circle of friends and family as fast as I can possibly do so. I have AMAZING friends who have been willing to
have parties, but I certainly don’t want to be that friend that is always asking people to have parties. My friends know how much fun I am, now it’s time for strangers to get to know that too :)
