Mamas, I think I have made a terrible mistake. Do you remember when I lost my mind and succumbed to peer pressure and actually signed up for a race? And not just any race, but a 5K with obstacles thrown in, you know just for fun. When I signed up, I had great intentions; I would train, be in the best shape of my life, and totally rock this race. For a few months I did really well. Have you found the Couch to 5K app yet? Changed my life! It made
the transition from walking to running so much smoother than if I just got off the couch and tried running by myself. Well, at least it did for a little while. Then while my family was going through The Great Move of 2013, exercise fell by the wayside. I have not run in 6 weeks and am now terrified. Why?! Because the Diva Dash is THIS WEEKEND!!!! As in Saturday. Oh dear God, what have I gotten myself into?!
Well, in shape or not, I’m doing the race. Will I be utterly humiliated? Probably. But I’m counting on my friends (those exercise pushers that made me sign up for this race in the first place) to push my butt over those walls, pull me over the tires, and hold my hand as we cross the finish line. And to be honest, I hope this is the first of our many racing adventures together, because I do love these ladies. Also, when I was running regularly I felt so good, about my body and my health.
