With warmer weather finally hear and the snow a distant memory (for now), we have decided to do a new spin on an old favorite Tasty Tuesday recipe.
Although we just love our watermelon juice Popsicle recipe, we found that there were some Cape Cod kids that were not a fan of watermelon juice (probably 3 year olds). This past weekend we went to work creating another version which uses pineapple juice as the mix, but you can use whatever you choose.
The result was the perfect refreshing and healthy version of the favorite summer treat, which made this Cape Cod Mom very happy and I know it made these two kids even happier!
This time we were a bit wiser. We let the kids pick their favorite 4 fruits to include in their refreshing treats. These two chose: Pineapple, Blueberries, Cherries and Strawberries. Mom chopped up all the fruit and displayed it on a plate. Before we began, we washed our hands thoroughly. I explained this is because we would be eating the popsicles and no one wanted germs in their popsicles right?
We brought everything outside and discussed the fun treat we were about to create. I gave each child 4 molds, told them to fill them (I should have said put some in each as they immediately tried to fill only one of course) with the fruit of their choice.
They quickly went to work, filling the molds with fruit. When we were done I gave them little cups to fill up the molds with the Pineapple Juice. Then the kids placed the sticks in to the molds. This presented a slight challenge as they fit snugly however the kids managed after a few attempts to get them on (yay for gross motor skills!)
After some rest time the kids woke up begging to see if their treats had frozen. They couldn't wait to try them!
They ran around the back yard singing all about their popsicles and how "delectable" they were. Yes, they actually used that word-who knew making popsicles would lead to a fun vocabulary lesson!
Later that night, the Tiny One enjoyed another frozen treat while taking a bath-probably one of the best places to enjoy these!
