Many outgoing children have a lot of energy and a structured drama class can help that child channel that energy into a productive project. A shy child can learn to find their voice in a drama class through fun games and practices. In a typical Mel O’ Drama class, students get to explore the depths of their imaginations in a creative, safe and fun environment. Whether born for the stage or fearful of new situations, children want to play together and this program has proved time and time again that children connect beautifully when creating together! ![]() Mel Gillespie is the founder and owner of the Mel O’ Drama School of Acting for Kids based in Milton and Quincy. Besides teaching at her beloved drama school, Mel also has her own kids tv show on Milton access tv called ‘Acting up with Mel and Gigi Giraffe’ AND is the author of a successful children’s book called, ‘Darlene the drama Queen,’ which she based on her students at Mel O’ Drama. Taking a class with Mel and The Mel O’ Drama Team is fun, productive and very rewarding. ‘Every child can benefit from a drama class! Our stage awaits you!’ ![]() Summer camp registration is underway and although we’re based in Milton MA, we visit Mashpee MA every Summer and bring with us a taste of what we do in the form of a 1-week (half day) camp for little ones! This year we’ve chosen the theme of FAIRYTALES and in our camp we’ll use theatre games, voice work (projection & articulation), choreography, costumes, arts n crafts and more to prepare a little show for family on the last day of camp! Ideal for ages 4-10. Space is limited so, ‘don’t delay if you wanna play!’ ![]() For more information visit melodramakids.com, click on CAMPS and you’ll find our Cape Camp on our Summer Camps 2018 page. You can also contact Mel on 617 276 2772 for any questions you may need answered! We’d love to see you this July! With the Cape Cod Parent Resource Fair that took place on February 3, 2018 we were sharing blog posts on our participating sponsors, vendors and nonprofits. You will find out more about these amazing businesses and what they offer to our community. They will be sharing their services, advice, what challenges face our community as well as upcoming events they will be having. Make sure to check out our virtual program and resource guide even though the event is over because it has some amazing resources inside! We hope to see you at the Resource Fair next year! ![]() 1. Tell us about your business/non profit and how it benefits local families? Fox + Kit is a new children’s boutique that offers clothing, toys, gear, and gifts for children newborn through 6 years old. We will be hosting a free monthly music group and story times on weekends so that all families can have the opportunity to enjoy these fun events! 2. Where is it located? Our address is: 39 Market St, Mashpee, MA 02649 We’re located in Mashpee Commons near the Organic Market. We also have a web store at www.shopfoxandkit.com 3. What is your favorite part about our community? I love how members of the Cape community are so supportive of local businesses. 4. How else do you get involved with the community? As we grow, we hope to host many events open to the community. Personally, I enjoy getting out and about with my daughter, checking out various activities and family friendly events with her. 5. What are the biggest challenges facing parents in our community? Parents on the Cape have a lack of physical stores to find quality baby gear. Many purchases must be made online, and when it comes to baby gear it’s always best to see it in person so you can really see if it’s something that will work for your family. 6. What is your favorite memory or story over the years involving you and your business? My favorite memory I’m sure will be our Grand Opening on March 3rd, 2018! 7. What advice would you give parents and care givers in our community? It’s important to build a support system with family and friends, as well as like minded parents. Look around for community resources or various parenting groups you can attend in person or join online. It’s great to connect with people who may have similar philosophies so you can ask and answer each other’s questions, and provide support when needed! 8. Do you have any specials, events, or anything else taking place this upcoming year that our parents should know? Fox + Kit Children’s Boutique will be having it’s Grand Opening March 10th! We will have raffles throughout the day (everyone who comes through the door gets a raffle ticket!), our first free music group at 11:00am, and other activities. |
