It made it really special because friends, family and support is really what Cape Cod Moms is all about! We have so many amazing moms, dads and caregivers out there and even more amazing resources. It is all about connection and community! We will continue to strive to connect and support you all! Thanks to Rebecca for a great time and we can't wait to tune in to this segment and more going forward!
![]() Fun Fall Activities By Molly Fall has arrived and with it lots of fun activities to do. Below you will find some of my families favorite activities plus some that we want to try. Apple Picking is one of my favorite fall activities. We always go to Nicewicz Farm in Bolton. Nicewicz is our favorite because it is quieter, their fruits and vegetables are closer to organic since they use integrated pest management and the owners remember us every year. This is a no frills apple picking experience there are fruit trees and pumpkin picking, the gardens and a farm stand where you can buy produce including corn, squashes and flowers. If you are looking for more upscale or caramel apples Nashoba Valley Winery is down the street. I have never been but for apple and pumpkin picking on Cape there is Crow Farm in Sandwich (apple picking is done for the season). Heritage Gardens in Sandwich for a beautiful walk on the grounds. The kids love riding the carousel and playing in Hidden Hollows and adults can take in the galleries and car museum. There is also the newly restored windmill and a new garden to checkout. Heritage Gardens is open now through 10/14 but they also host Sandwich Halloween Festival 10/25 and 10/26 5pm-8:30pm for Halloween fun $5 per person. Green Halloween at Cape Cod Museum of Natural History. This is one of my kids favorite Halloween activities. This year it is on 10/26 10am-2pm and is $5 per child ages 3-16 with adult (adults with children are free). There are activities and crafts throughout the entire museum to complete for prizes plus refreshment and a hay maze outside. Orleans Halloween Sidewalk Stroll. On 10/26 2:30-3:30 starting at the Orleans library (after the 1:30 Toe Jam Puppet Band show) stroll through Orleans center and trick or treat at the shops. My kids love this because they get to wear their costumes during the day and walk around the center while collecting candy. After if you are not too tired there is more Halloween fun in East Orleans including hay rides. Take a walk at the Wellfleet Audubon Sanctuary. Audubon also has lots of fun Halloween activities that you can check out here! What are your favorite Fall activities to do? ![]() Molly, her husband, and their 1, 6 and 8 year split their time between their little piece of the cape in Orleans and Cambridge. She was a kindergarten teacher before her oldest was born then became a SAHM. She loves running, books, supporting literacy, nature walks, arts, craft, knitting and sewing as well as being outside and on the beach! This week Cape Kids Cast continued with the Halloween fun by carving a pumpkin. Ethan even offers some tips for success: Adult Supervision, Wash the pumpkin after and then coat in vasoline to make it last! They also will share what they plan to be for Halloween as well as some fun upcoming events including closing weekend of King Richard's Faire & Woods Hole Child Center Clothing Sale! We were looking for a social (and local!) way to both raise some funds for our kiddos, and to bring new business to some locals. After bouncing the idea of having a wine and oyster night off of Cape Cod Winery owner Erika Orlandella, she was thrilled at the idea! And just like that, we were off and running. ![]() The West Falmouth Preschool held their first annual wine and oyster fundraiser at Cape Cod Winery this past Saturday on a quintessential New England October afternoon. Complete with crisp air, a beautiful sunset, pumpkins, cheery mums, haybales, cornstalks, and fire pits, guests lounged in Adirondack chairs overlooking the vineyard, and sipped their vines under the twinkling lights of the grand white tent on the hill. ![]() The school provided deliciously "stick-to-your-ribs" comfort foods like New England Clam Chowder, pulled chicken sandwiches, and Portuguese "Jagg," for guests to purchase. Accompanying these soul foods were the freshest oysters from the famed (and local!) Megansett Oyster Company. These sweet and briny delicasies were such a hit, we had sold a whole bushel in less than an hour! ![]() Guests were wowed by the musical offerings of the Black Velvet Band (an Irish duo) and singer/songwriter Ric Allendorf throughout the afternoon and evening. The beautifully elegant Pop-Up Bubbly Van provided limited edition bubbly versions of Cape Cod Winery's famous "Mermaid Water" Rose and Riesling, which were a huge hit with the crowd! Additionally, guests were treated to the most gorgeous backdrop (for all their Instagram pics!) complete with a towering white flower wall and (biodegradable) balloon display from Elevated Impressions. ![]() Delicious wine flowed, music wafted through the crisp air, firepits cast warming glows all around, chowder warmed the soul, and everyone enjoyed the company of good friends! And all this fun for a great cause AND while supporting local businesses on Cape? Oh, yes. Be sure to stay tuned for when our event will be in 2020! Cheers! ![]() Sarah is a newbie to the Cape, but has a deep love for the ocean. She has recently left her job of 10 years in music education and re-located to Falmouth to support her husbands' business. This "Mom-prenuear" is busy growing her Pure Haven Essentials business by helping families to live toxic free, clicking away behind her camera, chasing after her 2 adorable sons! She enjoys cooking/baking healthy (and guilty!) foods, fitness, boating, singing, and connecting with awesome new people. Sarah also helps manage our free community calendar and events. An Event of Shared Community and Cooperation On Saturday October 19th, the Woods Hole Child Center will be hosting its 33rd annual clothing sale at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Hall on the Falmouth Village Green. The selection of clothing is enormous and includes outerwear, women’s and men’s casuals and professional attire, children’s clothing, shoes, some children’s equipment, and Halloween costumes. Doors open at 9am. Clothing is priced very reasonably, most items priced between $1-$8. The sale ends with a “$5-a-bag” blitz from 2-3pm. This is a very popular part of the event and many who shop earlier in the day return for this bargain bonanza. Proceeds from the clothing sale will help cover the Center’s operational expenses. The Woods Hole Child Center Clothing Sale has been a staple in the lives of many Falmouth and greater Cape Cod residents. Many hands pitch in to make light work of this event and clothing donations are always welcome. The Child Center accepts gently used clothing and equipment, and they are happy to sell items on consignment with a 50/50 split. Interested donors are encouraged to visit the website (www.woodsholechildcenter.org) and click on the tab labeled “clothing sale” or contact the Child Center at 508-548-1773 for more information. Clothing drop off is scheduled for Friday, October 18th from 9am-12pm, at St. Barnabas Hall. The quality of clothing should be mentioned too. Year after year, shoppers are astounded at the bargains that are available. In a time of increasing awareness of our responsibility to reduce our impact on the environment, recycling clothing in this manner makes this truly a “green” event! In order to further benefit the community, the WHCC would like to work with other local charitable entities by offering them the opportunity to come pick up the clothing at the end of the sale. This must be pre-arranged through the Child Center. ![]() Super Simple (3 Ingredient) Dinner By: Charissa Menu planning and dinner prep doesn’t have to be difficult.
