![]() Discover the Magic with PackageFromSanta.com By: Sarah R As a busy parent of a five year old boy, it is easy to get stressed around the holiday season. Preparing for parties, spending money, buying gifts, sending cards, comparing prices of the “hot” toys, finding the best local Santa events… I know I am not alone with losing the true spirit of the holidays amidst the noise. Sometimes though, you can find the perfect moment, catching the glimmer of innocence and excitement in your child’s smile, allowing you to see the wonders of the season through their eyes. For me, that moment came when our personalized letter and video arrived from PackageFromSanta.com. The order process on the website was surprisingly easy and quick. Within a few minutes, I had selected a letter with a funny story about a cookie storm in the North Pole that I knew my son would appreciate. There were multiple letter template options targeting different age groups and interests. With a few clicks, I provided information about our family and uploaded a photo of my son, and his personalized letter was set to go. The package that I selected comes with a personalized letter, phone call, and video message from Santa himself, as well as a personalized downloadable “Nice List Guide”. There are also many upgrades and add-ons such as a certified piece of Santa’s red coat that look like a great enhancement for older children. ![]() The letter package arrived within the week after we returned from our Thanksgiving travels. The look of wonder when I told my son that he had a package from Santa was incredible. After we read through it together, he started jumping up and down with excitement about his status on the nice list, and we put the letter in a special place. A few days later, I went back on the site to customize the video. Again, I was impressed with the quality and the number of video templates to choose from and was laughing myself at some of the hijinks the elves get up to. My son reacted even more positively to the video when we watched it together the first time and every time since. I am saving the personalized phone call for closer to Christmas. Their app is easy to install on your phone, and I am sure he will love it! Overall, I am very happy with the quality of the products, and how personalized they are to my child. We all work hard to make the season come alive for our little ones. For me, this was an easy, inexpensive “win” to do exactly that. ![]() Almond Butter Kisses Cookie Recipe By: Amy Christmas cookie baking day is one of my favorite parts of the holidays. I love the smell of cookies baking all day long with holiday music playing and the entire family and our friends working together to make some tasty treats! Peanut butter kisses were always one of my favorites to make with my parents and grandparents growing up along with my grandmother's M&M Christmas cookies. After my son was born we found out he was severely allergic to peanuts which came as a total shock. I have been a major peanut butter love my whole life and I had to remove it completely from our home. Lucky for us he is not allergic to tree nuts so we are able to substitute almond butter and other choices. A few years ago I took the recipe for Peanut Butter Kisses and substituted almond butter and them came out amazing. My son who refuses all kinds of "butter" substitutes enjoys these cookies and I catch him trying to sneak them all the time just like I did as a child! Plus they are pretty darn close to the original peanut butter ones, to the point that I have actually grown to enjoy this option more. Feel free to substitute any other type of "butter" option that will work for your family. These make perfect gifts for teachers, friends and family and they were featured on a Cape Kids Cast where Ethan touts them as a great peanut free option. Ingredients

Mans relationship with horses goes back more years than one can realistically contemplate but around 800 BC, people in Central Asia started riding them instead of just using them to pull carts and wagons.
Here in 2018, we still ride horses and while it is less common to use them as a mode of transportation, the benefits of riding are many.
Corinne, lets you in on her son Remy’s journey with starting horseback lessons and shares how it can be beneficial for any person to engage in.

Meet Alison O'Toole, from Pizza Barbone. Pizza Barbone began in 2010 and then set down roots in Hyannis. They bake the most delicious pizza in a handcrafted Stefano Ferrara oven which was built from scratch by third generation oven-makers out of rock and ash from Mt. Vesuvius and covered in hand painted glass tiles before being shipped from Naples, Italy. The oven was the first of its kind in Massachusetts. They use only fresh seasonal ingredients and make as much as they can from scratch. They take care in the food they create starting with the non-GMO "00" flour imported from Italy all the way down to making every spoon of gelato, splash of dressing and ladle of sauce in-house. All in compliment to the vegetables they grow on their rooftop garden! This coupled with the fact that they are huge supporters of the local community makes us love them even more! |

We bring food to Cape Cod Hospital maternity ward every Thanksgiving and Christmas. They were so amazing when we had our son and we never miss the opportunity at the holidays to remind them how thankful we are.
Do you have any specials or events taking place this holiday season?
EVENTS: We take part in the Hyannis Christmas Stroll on 12/1 at our restaurant and the Osterville Christmas Stroll with our food truck on 12/7.
SPECIAL: We have offered a catering special to the business community for a party of 50 people or less, for one hour of food service of salad and pizza for a special package price of $500 (plus 7% tax and 15% gratuity). *Valid Monday through Thursday, November through March.
What is your favorite thing about this time of year?
The warmth of people’s spirit as everyone gets excited to decorate and bake and party and give gifts.
Over the years, what is the best example of local kindness you have experienced or seen?
Time and time again we see customers pay the restaurant bill for other customers in our restaurant at the holidays or even year-round. It warms us and all of our staff’s hearts anytime we see someone reach out to random strangers like that, just to do something kind.
What is your recommendation for a local family “must attend” holiday event?
We are just starting to explore all of the family holiday events. We went to the Mashpee Commons tree lighting last night and had such a wonderful time with all of the little activities going on. We are also going to visit the Edaville Christmas lights one evening coming up!
Would you share with us a family tradition?
Every year we go and pick out a tree at a local lot and since having our son we have added a little spin to the outing by taking an annual picture of Clark on the roof of the car with the Christmas tree. We imagine that by 18 we will still be asking him to get up there and sit on the roof with the tree. 😊
What are your words of advice for families during this special time?
Spend as much time outside walking around taking in the Christmas lights and sights with each other. There’s something about the glow of Christmas lights that slows you down and really notice the moment.
Do you have a favorite holiday song? If so, which one and why?
We love Dominic the Donkey. It’s always been a family joke because it drives one of my sisters crazy, but now that we have our son it has extra fun meaning added to it because there is a donkey we love to visit each day after school on the way home.

What are your holiday traditions?

By: Amy
Growing up I was always thrilled when the holidays rolled around because it meant that we would be making Christmas cookies!
One of my favorite cookies to make every year was my grandmother's Christmas M&M cookie recipe. I have fond memories of making these both with her and with my parents. Years later my parents gave me a photocopy of her recipe and it brought tears to my eyes to see the recipe written in her handwriting. Every year now I make the same cookies with my kids and even though she never met my children it makes me always feel like she is with me.
These cookies are very addicting and believe me when I tell you that you and the kids will not be able to eat only one. We even featured them on a Cape Kids Cast! So get your mixing bowls out and have the kids get their aprons on, it's time to make some cookie memories for the holidays!

Holiday collections and we will be having black friday specials soon.
What is your favorite thing about this time of year?
I love giving gifts and seeing people's reactions.
Over the years, what is the best example of local kindness you have experienced or seen?
I would have to say all the businesses that do toys for tots and donating toys to kids
that are less fortunate.
What is your recommendation for a local family “must attend” holiday event?
The Falmouth Christmas parade!!!!
Would you share with us a family tradition?
Every year Christmas Eve is our day with the same family members. It's a tradition every year that my mom does and I look forward to it every year.
What are your words of advice for families during this special time?
It is about spending time with your family and not the amount of money you spend on people.
What is your favorite holiday dessert?
All the holiday cookies - lol
Do you have a favorite holiday song? If so, which one and why?

At Quicks Hole Tavern, we get in the holiday spirit in a number of ways. First of all, of course we decorate! We just love hanging those sparkly lights and pulling out the Christmas tree & holiday wreaths to make the restaurant feel homey. We also take a beat to thank our staff with a holiday party which is typically on a slow night (like a Monday) so we close down and celebrate the end of the year together. We do a holiday gift swap, which is always really funny, and we sometimes host an ugly sweater contest, or raise money for someone who is struggling.
What is your recommendation for a local family “must attend” holiday event?
The "must attend" holiday event of the season is the annual Christmas Parade in Falmouth (this year on December 8). I can not get enough of those eight enormous Clydesdales pulling the Hallamore cart. It takes my breath away each and every year, and makes me proud to know the owner/trainer of these incredible animals is right here in Lakeville MA. How cool is that?
Would you share with us a family tradition?
Our family gathers together on Christmas, and we spend Christmas morn at home with our stockings and a huge decadent family breakfast. When we enter the living room to see if Santa has come, we sing "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" even though our kids are well past believing. It always chokes me up to sing this song, same as I did with my own parents as a kid.
What are your words of advice for families during this special time?
My words of advice at the holidays is to think bigger than your own family and find meaningful ways to offer service to others at this special time. We like to go to the Falmouth Service Center to help in any way they need as we know there are kids without enough to eat right here on Cape Cod. With our teenaged sons, we bring canned goods, turkeys and more, and we have encouraged the kids to stay with their school group to help sort the many donations that come in at that time.
Do you have a favorite holiday song? If so, which one and why?
One favorite holiday song is from the Little Drummer Boy, which if you have not watched this with your kids we highly recommend -- what a great way to get in the holiday spirit in a way small kids can enjoy and understand. Bring a box of tissues, as the song at the end will slay you.
