1. Tell us about your business/non profit and how it benefits local families?
I am the owner of Lamperti Counseling & Consultation (20+ years) and the Team Leader of Essential Oils Cape Cod (5 years). For many years I worked on very high risk and high conflict divorce cases. My passion is to support families in moving through difficult challenges that are common to every-day life and/or extraordinary. I currently provided services primarily to individuals, couples and families.
2. Where is it located?
My business is located in Brewster, Massachusetts, in addition to the educational services and blogging online at www.tracylamperti.com and www.essentialoilscapecod.com.
3. What is your favorite thing about our community?
My favorite thing about our community is it’s natural beauty and the fact that there are so many small and large group support opportunities, like Cape Cod Moms, for adults to connect with one another for refueling and support.
4. How else do you get involved with the community?
I am very involved in my church community. I attend the Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church in Brewster. I have connections with other local churches as well and enjoy networking to share what I have to offer and learn from others.
5. What do you think are the biggest challenges facing parents in our community?
I think parents in our community (most communities today) are facing some significant challenges. The pressure to be all and do all, and be and do it all with perfection is just too much and in our efforts we can lose track of the really important parts of life, like enjoying one another. I am also very concerned about our childrens’ experience of division. From political differences to parenting differences to sibling differences, getting along with one another seems to be getting more and more difficult. This, paired with our children having so much “electronic” time is a big concern to me, division plus poorly developed social skills is a problem.
6. What is your favorite memory or story over the years involving you and your business?
My favorite professionally related memory of recent is one with a couple who came in on the verge of a divorce because of parenting differences. I gave them one, “simple,” specific instruction to follow in the home and the impact on their child, who was struggling the most with the parenting differences made a complete turn-around. It was such a great example of family repair and rebuild based on a couple’s humble decision to come in and ask for help.
7. What advice would you give parents and caregivers in our community?
My advice to parents and caregivers in the community is to take some time, on your own and with your tribe, to discover what your priorities are. Where is your time being sucked away? Where is your money disappearing to? Are sport and other extracurricular activities valued above having dinner together as a family? Is night-time scrolling social media and binge watching “This is Us” being valued above intimacy with your partner? Have you bought in to the idea that siblings don’t get along so why even expect them to, or are you teaching the value of relationships within the home? Are your actions lining up with your intentions?
8. Do you have any specials, events, or anything else taking place this upcoming year that our parents should know about?
Up-coming? Follow my blog for new family resources. My aim is to put my psychotherapy practice out of business by teaching that the family home is the therapeutic hub where every member of the family thrives. As for Essential Oils Cape Cod, join our mailing list for lots of fun and educational events!
It has been a privilege for me to meet so many great people connected to Cape Cod Moms and I am so grateful to Amy Leonardi for all of the efforts she puts in for all of us to connect and grow.
