With the holidays fast approaching and your calendar filling up, it can be very difficult to keep track of all the amazing Christmas and Holiday events taking place across the Cape Cod community for your family!  This time of year is already hectic enough with everything you Moms have to do that we wanted to make your life simpler!  

We have compiled our annual list of all family friendly Christmas and Holiday Events taking place on Cape Cod as well as the Surrounding Areas.  Our listings include parades, cookie strolls, train rides, Santa, and so much more!

Last year's Cape Cod Family Holiday Calendar Event Guide was such a success again that we once again compiled it all in one place. Christmas in Cotuit by the Federated Church

Our beautiful seaside village hosts a Christmas Festival every year on the first Saturday in December called Christmas in Cotuit.Some of the many events include hay rides with beautiful horses; free chili at the Fire Station; special events for kids at the Cotuit Library and the Cahoon Museum; sales at the Historical Society; wine tasting at the Cotuit Fresh Market and a Craft Sale extravaganza at Freedom Hall.At Cotuit Federated Church, we hosts both a Theme Basket sale (e.g. chocolate lover’s basket; gardener basket; baby shower basket) and a Small Art Works sale featuring paintings and photography by such talented artisans as Alison McMurry, Carol-Jean Barnaby O’Toole, Dan Hart, our Wednesday Artists, and many others. Christmas in Cotuit wraps up with Santa arriving by boat to the Town Dock, walking up to the Village Green for a blessing by the Rev. Angela Menke Ballou and the lighting of the Christmas Tree, and then racing up to our community hall for cookies, hot apple cider, and Christmas carols sung by the fabulous Cotuit Federated Church choir.All in all, this is a beautiful, joy-filled community event!

All along Main Street there's a full day of family fun with breakfast with Santa,  strolling carolers, arts & crafts, trolley and horse-drawn carriage rides, a petting zoo, and much more.
As daylight turns to dark, Hyannis Harbor comes to life with the annual Harbor Lighting & Boat Parade. It's an evening of music, food, and colorfully lit boats cruising the Harbor.

On Saturday, December  7, come join us for the annual Santa's Boat Parade! Enjoy a free kids' craft  and chowder, coffee, hot chocolate and cookies for sale while you wait for Santa to arrive by boat. . Many decorated boats, live music by Cool 102 and loads of fun for all ages.

LoveLocal Fest :: Holiday Edition 2019
December 7, 2019 5-9pm
The LoveLocal Fest :: Holiday Edition has a new home at Barnstable High School in Hyannis for 2019 as well as some additions to our event lineup, but has the same intention to connect the Cape Cod community with local makers and businesses for the ultimate holiday shopping event!

This year the event which is sponsored by Cape Cod 5 + Michelle Kaye Photography will host over 125 local makers, artisans, artists, food and beverage purveyors [full list of participating vendors will be released a week prior to the event].

The event continues to be two days, Saturday evening and Sunday all day.

Saturday evening will feature Housing Assistance Corporation - HAC's 16th Annual Telethon for HOPE is a major annual fundraiser to support the organizations's local housing programs and services. The broadcast produced by the Cape Cod Community Media Center will be integrated into the event and feature guest appearances from Housing Assistance clients, program directors, and community leaders.

Sunday will feature fun and funky holiday music by DJ Ian Lee and a Kids Zone sponsored by Ten Pin Eatery where there will be games and activities to keep the kiddos happy and in the holiday spirit!

The event is FREE and open to the public, but as always, there will be a suggested donation of $5 at the door. This year the proceeds will go to Housing Assistance Corporation - HAC as well as Love Live Local's own Project Cape Made grant program.

The location offers plenty of onsite parking.

1st Annual Winter Wonderland

Lace up your skates and glide onto the ice with us at Hyannis Youth and Community Center for our 1st Annual Winter Wonderland with the Cape Cod St. Patrick's Parade!  Everyone in the family will enjoy making magical memories with this fun winter tradition! 

Do you want to build a snowman? Better yet, how about a trip on the ice with your favorite Snow Queen and Princess! Come join us for a magical evening and ice skate with royalty!

This town-wide celebration is a long-standing tradition in the historic "Sea Captains Town" of Brewster. Festivities begin on Friday morning when local shops, galleries and inns open their doors for a weekend of family-friendly events, activities and promotions. Highlights of Brewster for the Holidays include the Tree Lighting and the Lighting of the Windmill at Drummer Boy Park, blacksmith demonstration and windmill tours, a Holiday band concert, Arts & Crafts Show, and the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History's Gala Family Party.

Admission is free and free-will donations will be accepted to benefit the Brewster Ladies Library Children’s Programs. The Band’s program will include “Panis Angelicus” by Cesar Franck, Robert Longfield’s “And the Mountains Echoed Gloria”, “C’est Noel by Andre’ Jutras, “A Christmas Bell Carol” and “The Toymakers Workshop”, among other traditional favorites. Santa Comes to the Fish Pier

When Santa makes his pre-Christmas journey to Chatham, it's big doings! No less than the United States Coast Guard provides his escort - delivering Jolly Old Saint Nick safely to the Chatham Fish Pier via Coast Guard cutter.

Christmas in Chatham will bring you back to days gone by. This weekend is part of a month-long celebration of the Holidays that includes a town light parade, caroling,  visits with Santa, music and theater performances, sweet treats, Christmas fairs, open houses and shopping throughout the town.

First Night in Chatham

Chatham celebrates the arrival of the New Year with a gala, full-day festival filled with events for the whole family.
The highlight of First Night in Chatham, as always, is the dropping of the Cod and the midnight fireworks display. (NYC has their glass ball drop. Chatham, appropriately, drops a codfish replica.

Holidays By The Sea in Falmouth is jam-packed with fun for everyone!
This festive weekend includes the arrival of Santa sailing into Falmouth Harbor, the Annual Lighting of the Falmouth Village Green with caroling and a special visit from Santa, and the downtown Holiday Stroll. Noon on Sunday is kick-off time for the annual Falmouth Christmas Parade. Renowned for being southeast Massachusetts’ largest Christmas parade, highlights include decorated floats, marching bands, live animals, costumed characters and Santa Claus, too. Help us kick-off the Mashpee Season of Illumination at our annual tree-lighting ceremony. Take a break from shopping to join us for our countdown to light up the Mashpee Rotary on Friday, November 29th in front of Siena on Steeple Street in Mashpee Commons. Beginning at 4 pm, enjoy carolers over a warm cup of cocoa. Then at 4:30 Santa Claus himself will arrive by horse-drawn carriage to join in our countdown to light up the rotary! The ceremony will wrap up with a brass band performance and meet & greet with Santa.

Frozen JR. is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage. The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production.

A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen JR. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood.

Holiday Events at Mashpee Commons
The clopping of horses adorned with bells, twinkling lights, and the sound of carolers singing in the distance; the holiday season at Mashpee Commons always delivers a memorable experience. Join us for our free holiday events, beginning on Friday, November 29th and running through Monday, December 23rd. The calendar includes horse-drawn carriage rides, live performances by brass band trios, carolers, and photos with Santa. The Mashpee Chamber will hold their annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 29th at the Mashpee Commons Christmas tree, and the Chamber’s annual Christmas Parade, on December 7th, will wind through the Commons.

Holly Folly Weekend, the Provincetown Business Guild's Gay and Lesbian Holiday Festival, is a great time to peruse Provincetown's amazing variety of shops and galleries for unique gifts that'll "Wow" everyone on your list - pets included!
Throughout the weekend there'll be events all over town. Open houses, dance parties, drag bingo, a Jingle Bell Bathing Suit Run down the center of town ... that's just a little sampling of the fun and frivolity in P'town on Holly Folly Weekend.

Sandwich 1st Night 2020: ​
First Night Sandwich 2020, is an alcohol free New Years Celebration that will kick off Tuesday December 31st, 2019 at 4:00 pm.  This community celebration of music, art, and dance is open to all who wish to  enjoy an eclectic evening of holiday fun.  There will be ice sculptures, lighted giants in the village and along Route 6A, children’s crafts, an enchanting fairy garden, food vendors, storytellers and jugglers.
At 8pm there will a Revelers Parade,  followed by the Grand Finale Countdown, and fireworks. over the pond. 
Buttons will be 10 dollars in advance, 12 dollars  at the door. 

Taylor-Bray Farm Holiday Festival
When: December 7 & 8, 2019, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Taylor-Bray Farm, 108 Bray Farm Road, Yarmouthport

Bring the kids or the grandkids to historic Taylor-Bray Farm for this back-in-time Holiday Festival. Visit with the donkeys, sheep, chickens, and other farm animals. The wonderful children's story, The Train to Christmas Town, comes alive as you board the Cape Cod Central Railroad's festively decorated train cars for a ride to Christmas Town on Cape Cod.
As the train chugs along the tracks, the elves get everyone into the Holiday spirit with sweet treats and sing-a-long caroling. Of course, the Jolly Old gentleman himself will be there when the train pulls into town, meeting and greeting everyone with a rousing "Ho, Ho, Ho!" and a special gift for each child.

At the Enchanted Village, visitors are immersed in a fantasy world, dazzling with tens of thousands of sparkly lights, colorful animated displays, and a fantastic Santa's Village. The over-the-top display put on each year at the Cape Codder Resort draws families from near and far!
Santa comes to visit on weekend evenings, gaily costumed carolers spread the holiday spirit, and (weather permitting) there's a crackling bonfire with marshmallow roasting and a sing-along.
Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped gift or a gift card to place under the Giving Tree as a donation to the Independence House in Hyannis.
Note: This event is open to the public as well as to guests of the Resort.

As a busy parent of a five year old boy, it is easy to get stressed around the holiday season. Preparing for parties, spending money, buying gifts, sending cards, comparing prices of the “hot” toys, finding the best local Santa events… I know I am not alone with losing the true spirit of the holidays amidst the noise. Sometimes though, you can find the perfect moment, catching the glimmer of innocence and excitement in your child’s smile, allowing you to see the wonders of the season through their eyes.
