Giving back to the community is very important to us. We opened our first location in Martha's Vineyard 9 years ago. Since then we try very hard to be part of every charity and school events we possibly can, for example. And this being our first year in Falmouth, we were extremely happy when you reached out to us. This gave us a chance to get into the spirit of giving here. Thank you for that!
Would you share with us a family tradition?
It's not necessarily a tradition but I always like to spend the holidays around family and friends. There's nothing more special than that.
What are your words of advice for families during this special time?
Pace yourselves! The holidays are about being together. Enjoy the time you have with your loved ones.
What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Definitely our Pecan pie with some vanilla ice cream.

We begin the season by opening our home to share Thanksgiving with those who don't have family or can't go home for dinner. Everyone brings their favorite dish to share.
Giving for us is year round. We give of our time and our money through local organizations and through the Arbonne Charitable Foundation which provides support for programs that empower teens around the world.
Do you have any specials or events taking place this holiday season?
Our holiday line this year has affordable bath and body sets and make up sets wrapped in festive packaging. We are also offering free preferred client and independent consultant sign ups through the end of November.
What is your favorite thing about this time of year?
My favorite part of this time of year is the gathering of family and friends, old and new! I love parties and I enjoy them even more when they involve music! Most people know Christmas songs and don't mind when someone breaks out in song, or takes out an instrument to play Christmas music. They usually join in.
What is your recommendation for a local family “must attend” holiday event?
I haven't lived on the Cape very long, but I love the stroll in Downtown Falmouth and the lighting of the Christmas Tree!
Would you share with us a family tradition?
My children are grown and married now, but when they were little and into their teens, our Christmas party each year was hosting a dinner at Grace Mission in Tallahassee Florida. It is an Episcopal Mission that serves those experiencing homelessness. All of our friends and their kids gathered and brought hams already cooked and pies already baked. The kitchen at Grace made the side dishes. We put real table cloths on the tables, live flowers for centerpieces and used real silverware and plates. Our kids were the wait staff. They waited on our guests as though it was a fancy restaurant. They were the best parties ever and you should have seen the smiles on everyone's faces!
What are your words of advice for families during this special time?
Presents or Presence? The best present you can give your family is your presence. It's not just about your physical presence, but also your engagement and involvement. Let go of the distractions. Nothing is more important. It doesn't cost a thing and you might find that its the best gift you've given yourself as well. It is in giving that we receive
What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Pecan Pie!
Do you have a favorite holiday song? If so, which one and why?
I'm a singer, so I have so many.....it's hard to choose. I'll say, Breath of Heaven, because every time I get to hear my daughter sing it, it brings tears to my eyes.

We hang Christmas and holiday cards up in our office. We have joined with Cape Cod Moms the past few years to offer a prize for their annual Festivus Giveaway including this year offering the grand prize. To get in the festive spirit, we also offer a college scholarship for 2019 to a local student. There will be more information on our website in the new year!
What is your favorite thing about this time of year?
The festive spirit of the season which includes family, community and everyone coming together.
Over the years, what is the best example of local kindness you have experienced
or seen?
The Falmouth Service Center and all they do not only at the holidays but year round.
What is your recommendation for a local family “must attend” holiday event?
We love attending the Christmas POPS in Boston every year. Locally we love watching the Falmouth Christmas parade as well!
Would you share with us a family tradition?
My children are all grown now, but each year our family gets together the weekend before Christmas with all of our grandchildren to celebrate. We do this the weekend prior to the holiday because we believe strongly that children should be home on Christmas Day. When my children were young they would each get a giant stocking. Now we have continued that tradition to the grandchildren and their presents always include matching Christmas pajamas.
What are your words of advice for families during this special time?
Spend time just being with your children with no time limit. The moments you spend now will create memories and a foundation of family and support for your children. Enjoy the magic of the season and teach them the spirit of giving.
What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Homemade Christmas Fudge
Do you have a favorite holiday song? If so, which one and why?

Meet Alison O'Toole, from Pizza Barbone. Pizza Barbone began in 2010 and then set down roots in Hyannis. They bake the most delicious pizza in a handcrafted Stefano Ferrara oven which was built from scratch by third generation oven-makers out of rock and ash from Mt. Vesuvius and covered in hand painted glass tiles before being shipped from Naples, Italy. The oven was the first of its kind in Massachusetts. They use only fresh seasonal ingredients and make as much as they can from scratch. They take care in the food they create starting with the non-GMO "00" flour imported from Italy all the way down to making every spoon of gelato, splash of dressing and ladle of sauce in-house. All in compliment to the vegetables they grow on their rooftop garden! This coupled with the fact that they are huge supporters of the local community makes us love them even more! |

We bring food to Cape Cod Hospital maternity ward every Thanksgiving and Christmas. They were so amazing when we had our son and we never miss the opportunity at the holidays to remind them how thankful we are.
Do you have any specials or events taking place this holiday season?
EVENTS: We take part in the Hyannis Christmas Stroll on 12/1 at our restaurant and the Osterville Christmas Stroll with our food truck on 12/7.
SPECIAL: We have offered a catering special to the business community for a party of 50 people or less, for one hour of food service of salad and pizza for a special package price of $500 (plus 7% tax and 15% gratuity). *Valid Monday through Thursday, November through March.
What is your favorite thing about this time of year?
The warmth of people’s spirit as everyone gets excited to decorate and bake and party and give gifts.
Over the years, what is the best example of local kindness you have experienced or seen?
Time and time again we see customers pay the restaurant bill for other customers in our restaurant at the holidays or even year-round. It warms us and all of our staff’s hearts anytime we see someone reach out to random strangers like that, just to do something kind.
What is your recommendation for a local family “must attend” holiday event?
We are just starting to explore all of the family holiday events. We went to the Mashpee Commons tree lighting last night and had such a wonderful time with all of the little activities going on. We are also going to visit the Edaville Christmas lights one evening coming up!
Would you share with us a family tradition?
Every year we go and pick out a tree at a local lot and since having our son we have added a little spin to the outing by taking an annual picture of Clark on the roof of the car with the Christmas tree. We imagine that by 18 we will still be asking him to get up there and sit on the roof with the tree. 😊
What are your words of advice for families during this special time?
Spend as much time outside walking around taking in the Christmas lights and sights with each other. There’s something about the glow of Christmas lights that slows you down and really notice the moment.
Do you have a favorite holiday song? If so, which one and why?
We love Dominic the Donkey. It’s always been a family joke because it drives one of my sisters crazy, but now that we have our son it has extra fun meaning added to it because there is a donkey we love to visit each day after school on the way home.

Holiday collections and we will be having black friday specials soon.
What is your favorite thing about this time of year?

Over the years, what is the best example of local kindness you have experienced or seen?
I would have to say all the businesses that do toys for tots and donating toys to kids
that are less fortunate.
What is your recommendation for a local family “must attend” holiday event?
The Falmouth Christmas parade!!!!
Would you share with us a family tradition?
Every year Christmas Eve is our day with the same family members. It's a tradition every year that my mom does and I look forward to it every year.
What are your words of advice for families during this special time?
It is about spending time with your family and not the amount of money you spend on people.

All the holiday cookies - lol

At Quicks Hole Tavern, we get in the holiday spirit in a number of ways. First of all, of course we decorate! We just love hanging those sparkly lights and pulling out the Christmas tree & holiday wreaths to make the restaurant feel homey. We also take a beat to thank our staff with a holiday party which is typically on a slow night (like a Monday) so we close down and celebrate the end of the year together. We do a holiday gift swap, which is always really funny, and we sometimes host an ugly sweater contest, or raise money for someone who is struggling.
What is your recommendation for a local family “must attend” holiday event?
The "must attend" holiday event of the season is the annual Christmas Parade in Falmouth (this year on December 8). I can not get enough of those eight enormous Clydesdales pulling the Hallamore cart. It takes my breath away each and every year, and makes me proud to know the owner/trainer of these incredible animals is right here in Lakeville MA. How cool is that?
Would you share with us a family tradition?
Our family gathers together on Christmas, and we spend Christmas morn at home with our stockings and a huge decadent family breakfast. When we enter the living room to see if Santa has come, we sing "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" even though our kids are well past believing. It always chokes me up to sing this song, same as I did with my own parents as a kid.
What are your words of advice for families during this special time?
My words of advice at the holidays is to think bigger than your own family and find meaningful ways to offer service to others at this special time. We like to go to the Falmouth Service Center to help in any way they need as we know there are kids without enough to eat right here on Cape Cod. With our teenaged sons, we bring canned goods, turkeys and more, and we have encouraged the kids to stay with their school group to help sort the many donations that come in at that time.
Do you have a favorite holiday song? If so, which one and why?
One favorite holiday song is from the Little Drummer Boy, which if you have not watched this with your kids we highly recommend -- what a great way to get in the holiday spirit in a way small kids can enjoy and understand. Bring a box of tissues, as the song at the end will slay you.

What is your favorite thing about this time of year?
My favorite thing about this time of year is the magic! I have two young sons (3 &6), and I love experiencing the holiday season and all the fun and wonder it brings through their eyes. It brings a whole new feeling of excitement that can sometimes get lost as we grow older.
Over the years, what is the best example of local kindness you have
experienced or seen?
One of the most powerful examples of kindness during the holiday season I have ever been part of over the years was being able to volunteer at My Brother's Keeper in Easton, MA. I was able to give back to the community by "shopping" for Christmas gifts, wrapping them, and then delivering the gifts and a holiday meal to families in need. The smiles on the recipients faces and their gratitude for such a simple gesture embodied the true feeling of the holiday season.
What is your recommendation for a local family “must attend” holiday event?
A must attend family event to attend for my family is Edaville in Carver, MA! My parents took me as a child and I now bring my children. Taking the train ride to look at all the holiday lights is something that I loved as a child and my kids now love it too! Such a fun, festive, and family friendly place to help get you in the holiday mood!
Would you share with us a family tradition?
A family tradition for us having a yummy Christmas morning breakfast while opening gifts. What makes this breakfast a "tradition" is that it ALWAYS has to include Monkey Bread! It is the only day of the year that we eat it. I look forward to it every year...yum!
What are your words of advice for families during this special time?
A word of advise for families this time of year is to slow down. Take time to enjoy the simple things. Enjoy each other. Enjoy the fun and magic of the season. It is so easy to get wrapped up in all the craziness and feel pulled in a million directions with a million tasks to accomplish. Be mindful of being present in the moment and create memories and traditions that will be passed on through the years.
What is your favorite holiday dessert?
My favorite holiday dessert is my husband's Aunt's amazing Italian Christmas cookies! She makes them for his family's Christmas party every year. I tried to make them myself...not even close to hers! I always bring a few extra home for later too :)
Do you have a favorite holiday song? If so, which one and why?
My favorite holiday song is "Do you Hear what I Hear? I find no matter what version I hear, I love it! It also makes me think of the innocents of children and the importance of teaching them about world peace and love for everyone.

What is your favorite thing about this time of year?
My favorite thing about this season and spending time with my children and grandchildren
Over the years, what is the best example of local kindness you have experienced or seen?
The most touching act of kindness I have seen was the way Weymouth came together to support Mrs Chesna and Vera Adams's family, after they were taken from us so horrifically.
What is your recommendation for a local family “must attend” holiday event?
The Christmas Festival of light at the National Shrine of our Lady of La Salette is my pick for the Family Must attend event .
Would you share with us a family tradition?
As the children grow and families are so busy, we always make time for each other but traditions and arrangements change year to year.
What are your words of advice for families during this special time?
If I were to give any advice for this time of year, it would be to set aside your differences and come together. life is short, no regrets.
What is your favorite holiday dessert?
When I was young,my grandmother would make my favorite dessert using small marshmallows, fruit cocktail and homemade whipped creme.
Do you have a favorite holiday song? If so, which one and why?
I have several favorite Christmas songs it's hard to pick just one. Blue Christmas, Do you hear what I hear? Sleigh Rides would be on the top .

Do you have any specials or events taking place this holiday season?
The Sea Captain's Nutcracker at Cape Cod Community College on November 24th and 25th! A must see holiday event! You don't need to go into a big city and spend $100 a ticket to see a professional Nutcracker Ballet. It's perfect for the whole family and a great way to introduce your young child to ballet and theatre!
What is your favorite holiday dessert?
My Favorite Holiday dessert is apple pie with a slice of sharp cheddar cheese! So good! I am not sure if this is weird but it has been a family tradition for us!
What is your favorite thing about this time of year?
My Favorite thing about this time of year is the magic in the eyes in children, cuddles on the couch watching Christmas movies and the time spent with family from afar!
Over the years, what is the best example of local kindness you have experienced
or seen?
Best acts of local kindness... there are so many but I think Susan Mendoza Friedman's (Turning Pointe's Tap Teacher) amazing love and commitment to her fund Dancing for a Cure is pretty remarkable. She has raised a great amount of money for breast and ovarian cancer research all out of passion, love, and kindness. I love seeing people from all different studios come together and support this amazing cause.
Do you have a favorite holiday song? If so, which one and why?
My favorite holiday songs are Oh Holy Night, Jingle Bell Rock, Last Christmas because they all make me want to dance!
