This week on our NEW night Friday, January 22, 2021, we will be talking all about PFAS. Come join Dr. Laurel Schaider, a research scientist at Silent Spring Institute, to learn about PFAS contaminants in drinking water. Schaider is the lead investigator of the PFAS-REACH study, which is looking at how PFAS chemicals can affect children's immune systems. The study is currently enrolling preschool aged children in the Hyannis area to take part. Dr. Schaider will also talk about steps that all of us can take to reduce our family's exposure to these harmful chemicals. Children's Study: https://pfas-exchange.org/childrenstudy/ They are looking for preschool-aged children whose mothers lived or worked in Hyannis before 2016. Participating in the study will help us advance science on the health effects associated with these emerging drinking water contaminants and inform drinking water guidelines that protect communities from potentially hazardous exposures. Participants will receive up to $100 in gift cards if they do the study, blood draw and the questionnaire. For information on joining the study, contact us at: email: pfas-reach@silentspring.org Call or text: 617-600-8348 “Let’s Talk About PFAS”--February 3rd webinar on PFAS chemicals in Cape Cod drinking water “Let’s Talk About PFAS” is a new monthly speaker series to help communities address contamination and reduce exposures.
