Fleeting Moments Photography1. Tell us about your business/non profit and how it benefits local families?
Fleeting Moments Photography was born out of the love of capturing life's fleeting moments. We give back to the community in many different ways and love to capture families on Cape. 2. Where is it located? We are located in South Dennis but really our office is anywhere you would like to shoot. We travel to a location that is near and dear to your heart so when you look at the photos you are reminded of the significance of the location and people in that photo. If you don't have a location in mind, we can suggest some really beautiful ones. 3. What is your favorite thing about our community? Cape Cod is a special place where everyone is accepted and I have found that everyone is so inviting and accepting of everyone. 4. How else do you get involved with the community? We will offer our services to companies or events to help with promoting their cause. 5. What do you think are the biggest challenges facing parents in our community? Parents are faced with challenges that our parents never had to face. In this world of technology it is very important to monitor what our children are doing in every facet of their lives. 6. What is your favorite memory or story over the years involving you and your business? We have captured many families and some of those family members have passed since our session. I love that I am able to freeze that moment in time and help them remember the moments that mean the most. 7. What advice would you give parents and caregivers in our community? Take a ton of pictures. Show up in photos. Photos don't have to be taken by a professional photographer to mean something. Our children don't look at us like we look at ourselves. They do not see the flaws in ourselves that we see. They see "mom" or "dad" and we owe it to them to give them those memories. 8. Do you have any specials, events, or anything else taking place this upcoming year that our parents should know about? Fleeting Moments Photography would love to capture you and your family. For anyone that mentions the resource fair we will take $25 off your session fee. One other thing that I would like to mention is that we are really good at working with children with special needs. I have a child with Aspbergers and from firsthand experience I can tell you that it's not easy. I have taken my experiences and learned to work with children that may have difficulty during a family photo session. There is nothing to be embarassed about with me. To me they are all children that have loving families that want to document their journey. No judgement here. ![]() Canvas Factory Turns Photographs Into Great Gifts By: Sarah R “Say cheese!” Like many other parents, I am always trying to capture the precious moments with my young son. Where I struggle is finding the best way to display my photographs beyond my smartphone and computer screen. I am often overwhelmed by all the photo gift websites with their near-constant emails, difficult to navigate websites, and sub-par quality products. Therefore, when I looked at the Canvas Factory web site (http://www.canvasfactory.com/ if you are from USA and http://www.canvasfactory.com/ca if you are from Canada), I was impressed by its clean graphics, the easy to navigate photo tools, and quick check-out process. My son and I worked together to select a photo memory that he wanted to display on a canvas in his “big boy” bedroom. This very special photo shows us spraying my husband with a fire hose after his last military flight, a once in a lifetime honored tradition in his unit. The site provides a variety of sizes, shapes, and styles to fit the photo you select. I decided to lighten the photo as it appeared a little dark on my computer screen. One of my favorite options was selected what the sides of the canvas would look like – you can wrap the photograph around the sides, you can mirror the boundaries of the photo, or the tool can help you pick the “best match” color based on your photograph. I chose the latter and appreciated that I did not have to “eyeball” the correct shade of sky blue! A few clicks and we were ready to check out. This process was super easy as well. I do a lot of online shopping and can get frustrated at the seemingly never-ending check out process. One area of improvement is the communication of production and shipping times. It was not apparent to me when I checked out how long it would take until the canvas arrived. I received a confirmation and shipping email which provided this information, but I think users would benefit from a more prominent reminder prior to check out. When I received the package, my son and I opened excitedly together. The canvas itself is a good quality and nicer than others I have ordered in the past. My husband commented that he liked how they framed the back of it in black instead of leaving it open (and susceptible to damage). The vividness of the colors also stood out and made me regret lightening the photo based on the computer screen image. Lesson learned for the next one I order from the Canvas Factory, which will be soon since my son is now obsessed with decorating his other walls! The pricing does seem a little higher than other sites; however, I am so happy with the quality of the product that I think Canvas Factory will be my new “go to” site for transforming my digital images into great visuals for our home or for gifts. ![]() Sarah grew up on Cape Cod and currently splits her time between Cotuit and Charlestown with her husband and son. Sarah enjoys finding fun new activities for her family to enjoy as well as summers spent on the beach and boat. Sarah went back to school a few years ago earning her M.B.A. from Boston University. She is knowledgeable and savvy regarding family friendly activities and reviews in and around the city of Boston. Giveaway: |

Fleeting Moments Photography

Fleeting Moments Photography is a local business that believes in supporting the community in any way it can. Frequently we will volunteer our time to a cause or give away gift certificates for silent auctions to help in raising money.
2. Where is it located?
Fleeting Moments Photography is located in South Dennis but we travel the Cape within a 20 mile radius of Dennis
3. What is your favorite part about our community?
Cape Cod is a very relaxed and chill community. The people we have encountered truly are great people.
4. How else do you get involved with the community?
I will partner with other businesses in the community which in turn helps us both. I help out where ever I can with my kids extracurricular activities and schools.
5. What are the biggest challenges facing parents in our community?
I think the biggest challenges facing parents is technology - where our kids are concerned. It's difficult to constantly monitor what they are doing as technology is ever changing. I have a 10 year old and a 13 year old and I am constantly on them to make sure they are safe.
6. What is your favorite memory or story over the years involving you and your business?
Over the past seven years I have met so many great families and captured their memories. I love seeing families grow year after year. So many of my clients have become good friends.
7. What advice would you give parents and care givers in our community?
Follow your instincts - always. Your gut feelings will lead you in the right direction. Once I had my son, i knew that I did not want to keep working full time in an office. It took me three years and I was able to quit working to raise our kids. Thankfully, I did. A few short years later my son was diagnosed with Autism and I am so happy that I followed my heart and was able to be home for him during the rough years. It just didn't seem natural for me to be at work while someone else was taking care of him. I know that if I did not make that decision years ago, he would be a much different person.
8. Do you have any specials, events, or anything else taking place this upcoming year that our parents should know?
I am starting to book family photo sessions now and if you book before March 31st, you get an additional free 8x10 print with your session. Family Photo Sessions cost $195 and include an 8x10 photo (good for up to six people). The summer months fill up quickly.

A few months ago, our family had the opportunity to check out Verizon GoPro Hero 5 Session in time for Back to School. We had some amazing adventures and fun with the camera and you can read our review here. More recently we had a chance again to take a GoPro Hero 5 Session with us on a parent only vacation in exchange for sharing what we thought about it. It was an amazing opportunity to record memories from vacation to share later with friends and family!

We were also given a rare chance to see a baby turtle release which as you can see from my video below I was able to catch up close with the GoPro. This was pretty amazing to see close up and the GoPro was super easy to get set up near them as they raced to the ocean! There were lots of other people with a GoPro at the resort however 99% of them had special cases for their cameras. Many of them were fascinated with the fact that the Verizon GoPro Hero 5 Session did not need one as it is waterproof up 33 feet!

The back to school countdown is on and boy has it been quite the summer. The time has flown by and already we are back to school shopping! Our family was able to experience a lot of fun and experiences this summer that have helped to make lasting childhood memories. Since summer always passes so quickly I was thrilled when Verizon reached out to me with an opportunity to check out the GoPro Hero 4 Session camera and see if it fit it could help us capture some family fun in exchange for an honest review!
When I was a kid I can remember our parents recording events and experiences. In today’s society we all have cell phones, which mean the majority of our pictures and videos are now done on these devices. However I have found that my video quality on my cell phone does not always translate well to a larger screen and my family camera is large and can be cumbersome to always have with us. This is why a GoPro is a great middle ground solution.

I was recently the lucky recipient of a free photo session with Lydia Leclair Photography from Cape Cod Mommies. When I heard the news I was very excited! I've been wanting to do a photo shoot with my husband and my twin boys for a while now but haven't had the extra cash, so this was such a great prize!
After confirming the date, place and time (twice, due to weather!!) we were able to coordinate schedules. We met at long pasture wildlife sanctuary in Barnstable.. Where my husband & I got married, where our boys were blessed surrounded by friends and family and a place we have had many picnics! It's our spot :)
When meeting Lydia I could tell we were going to get along quite well. She was very down to earth and relaxed. We started on the beach first and worked our way up to the trees & greens. And we just played and explored with our boys while she took pictures. Of course we did some posed, which I love, but the ones where my boys are just running and smiling are the best. It was a lot of fun. After about an hour we went back to our cars, met her extremely sweet family who was exploring the sanctuary and Lydia mentioned she would be in touch with me soon about the pictures.
A few days later she emailed me with a thank you note and some amazing photographs. I picked out which ones we wanted to keep (came with the contest prize) and they were sent to me in a link, a few on Facebook with my permission and a few hard copies in the mail.
All in all, working with Lydia was great. My family is very lucky for this opportunity and I'm thankful for the beautiful pictures hanging on my walls.
