King Richard's Faire, New England's largest and longest-running Renaissance Faire, announces its 36th season running weekends including Labor Day and Columbus Day Mondays, September 2 through October 22, 2017. Tucked away on 80 acres of enchanted forest off Rt. 58 in Carver, Mass., King Richard's Faire announces its 36th season offering guests a full day of live, interactive entertainment for all ages. Enjoy daring knights jousting on horseback, exciting rides and games of skill, an original musical, and hundreds of talented entertainers on eight stages. Dancers, singers, acrobats, exotic animals, wacky wenches, happy villagers, and the King’s royal court greet you as you enter the gates.
When as famished as a mud beggar, guests will enjoy the Faire's delicious spit-roasted turkey legs, buttery ears of corn, boules filled with chowder and stew, ringlets of fries, and quench their thirst with champagne, wine and brew. Shoppers can stroll through the 16th century village filled with the wares of more than 100 unique and talented artisans from near and far. At every turn, guests will encounter fantasy and wonder through minstrels, musicians, acrobats, stilt walkers, giant puppets, wenches, and more.
Carvershire has been bustling with excitement as King Richard welcomes new entertainers to our enchanting village in 2017, including:
Rick, Jan and Snorkel the Trained Stunt Pig Show - new for this year featuring juggling, stunts and piggy humor - first four weekends only; Klass Klown brings fire juggling, ball balancing and high flying pogo stick stunts;
The Vodca Family musical dance and drumming show;
Gibbon the Troubadour and Hannah Rose on the fiddle; The Lord Sheriff Glenn Fieldenstream is back after a three year hiatus, ready to write tickets and summons laughter in “court”; And a new puppet: Jasper, King of the Rag Dolls!
Don’t miss beloved returning entertainers Draiku, a beautiful aerialist duo back for their third year; Great Cats of the World exotic cat show; Ses Carny’s The Torture Show; Daniel - Duke of Danger; the Washing Well Wenches; Jacques Ze Whipper; Bawdy Mud Beggars; and of course our brave and handsome knights jousting on horseback. The best thing about king Richards is everything...the history my family shares from years of going, the amazing photos of all the kids having the best time being princesses or pirates, the roses, the chicken legs. It's the best!
8/15/2017 07:16:35 pm
I love going here with my family seeing all the different shows and interesting things to see. Plus I love the unique shopping!
8/14/2017 08:40:08 pm

8/14/2017 10:01:38 pm
We have only been once so the whole thing was exciting. I would definitely love to go back.
8/14/2017 11:04:26 pm
The chance to Imagine with so many others who are imagining the same! Letting the kids see that grown ups can pretend too. Such fun!
8/14/2017 11:45:53 pm
I've only been once when I was younger but think my son would enjoy it !
8/15/2017 12:29:11 am
My favorite part is feeling like I've stepped back in time!!! It's rare as adults to be able to pretend you're in a different world for a day! :)
8/15/2017 06:47:39 am
We love learning about history in experiential ways. The Faire leads to great conversations, trips to the library and cool projects all because imaginations have been"sparked". And who doesn't love those costumes!!
8/15/2017 07:44:16 am
My husband and I had our first date there 17 years ago so a lot of good memories there. We loved the live shows, the food is great (chowder in a bread bowl) yummy, the costumes are great. We haven't gone in over ten years. I'm sure there are lots of new and exciting things. Would love to bring our children so they can experience how great it is and we're mommy and daddy went on there first date.
8/15/2017 08:14:23 am
Although we have never been, I would love dressing in costumes, paying roles, eating yummy food, and learning so much throughout the day! It would be a great adventure for our family to end the summer!
8/15/2017 09:32:53 am
Everything! I love the MUD show and jousting, my husband likes the turkey legs, and my kids love dressing up and all of the games. They also put on some pretty fantastic shows. I'd love to be able to taken my family back this year.

8/15/2017 04:24:05 pm

Jaques the Whipper and theTorture show
8/15/2017 04:30:42 pm
My favorite part is seeing all the costumes and all the unique items being sold by craftspeople.
8/15/2017 04:30:54 pm
Our family loves KRF with the joust being the best part for us. Close seconds are the wonderful big cats show and the gypsies dancing center stage!
8/15/2017 04:32:32 pm
What I love about king Richards faire is what I love about all fantasy sci type events, dressing up and acting. I just have a blast with all the costumes and any opportunity that I get to also dress in something. The more in character, the better.
8/15/2017 04:33:02 pm
I love everything about King Richard's Faire- but by far, my favorite thing is bringing someone who's never been before! Seeing their face light up at all the magic and wonder, forgetting about the burdens they left at home for the day. It's truly an ethereal experience.
8/15/2017 04:35:00 pm
I have lost count of the number of years my husband and I have gone, but now being able to share this tradition with our kids, who are old enough to also enjoy dressing up and the atmosphere will be great! What's not to love about the faire?
8/15/2017 04:37:17 pm
What I love most about King Richards Faire is that we can bring the kids and not the technology. No tablets, no wifi, no cell phones. Just having a good time with each other. Watching the shows and cheering at the tournament for our knight to win.
8/15/2017 04:39:23 pm
Love the Wishing Well Wenches. Wicked funny and not so risque that the whole family couldn't enjoy. The jousting is a bonus and something we never get tired of. Thanks for your consideration.
8/15/2017 04:42:55 pm
The best thing about King Richard's fFaire is going with my wife, Debbie Madsen,
8/15/2017 04:42:58 pm
I love everything about the faire. Unfortunately haven't been in years. I just recently married my best friend after being widowed for several years. I'm now the step mom to an 8 year old, he's never been. I would love to be able to bring him.
8/15/2017 04:43:01 pm
The mud pit always entertains me.
8/15/2017 04:43:15 pm
I love that it's something that both my teen and I enjoy together. I love being able to support fellow artists and my son likes that he can be himself without being ridiculed for acting different (Aspergers.) The only way we can go is if we win tickets!!
8/15/2017 04:44:41 pm
My favorite part of the faire is watching my son experience the medieval times. I visited the faire every year as a child and could not get enough. Now watching my son experience the same joy I experienced melts my heart. Not to mention I have always been infatuated with medieval ways.
8/15/2017 04:44:58 pm
Sad to say been wanting to go for 20 years it is now on my bucket list would love to take my Son who is 13 and loves all that kind of stuff.. Thank you

The family and I love everything about king richards faire!!
8/15/2017 05:26:56 pm
I've never been to this particular renaissance faire but I'd love to go! I like that they have gluten free options for the food as my dad has celiac disease and needs to eat that way and can't find things to eat at a lot of places. I also love dressing up!
8/15/2017 05:33:04 pm
My favorite part about king Richards fair is the whole experience the amazing atmosphere brings! From the amazing people to the great shows and delicious food! It's truly a great time stepping back in time and being a kid again! Dressing up and enjoying yourself with everyone around you!!

8/15/2017 05:46:05 pm
My favorite part is the food! Best turkey legs ever!
8/15/2017 05:51:48 pm
Oh wow, where to begin! King Richard's Faire is such a fun opportunity to escape from reality for an afternoon. My family and I love to go and dress up as pirates - each year our costumes get a little more elaborate and memorable, and the folks who work at the Faire remember us! I love that I'm creating new memories each and every year with people who truly love this Faire. It's around this time of year, when the days get shorter and the nights get a little chillier, that I know King Richard's Faire is on the horizon. I can't wait to go!
8/15/2017 05:59:40 pm
Living in a time of electronics where so many times kids lose sight of learning to have fun with what is around them, the afire is spectacular at drawing everyone in and engaging to the fullest! Adults and children alike can laugh and be part of something bigger than just is!! Such a marvelous way to make memories as a family!! And my youngest has never been so I would personally love to bring my family of 5 to make some new and lasting memories !
I can't say what my favorite thing about King Richard's Faire is because I have never been there but I have always wanted to go every year and always seem to miss it so I would love to get there. I think if I were to get there I would love watching all the jousting and love seeing the king and queen.
8/15/2017 06:04:26 pm
Favorite thing about KRF is/was sharing it with my children for the first time a couple of years ago. I wasn't sure what they'd think of it, but they loved it! They were asking if they could come back before they even got to the car!
8/15/2017 06:12:00 pm
The Faire has become a tradition in my family. I started going with my Mom when I was young, now I bring my daughter! Every year the 3 of us go in costume and travel back in time. We love everything!!
8/15/2017 06:12:41 pm
What I love most about King Richards Faire is that my oldest child can be herself and not feel as if she's being judged. I haven't been able to take her the past few yrs due to financial issues. And now I have a young one that's turning 1 on Aug 29th so it would be great to be able to take them this yr. Thank you for the opportunity to win. HUZZAH!!!
8/15/2017 06:14:16 pm
It has to be the joust! But the food is a close second. 😄
8/15/2017 06:20:37 pm

8/15/2017 06:30:03 pm
I love the eclectic group of people, just being yourself or someone else for a day. Taking in good food and good times making memories with family friends and strangers.
8/15/2017 06:33:09 pm
My husband and I have been to King Richards Faire every year since we started dating, and last year our baby joined our entourage! :) We love the atmosphere- the games, the shows, the jousting, and of course the food!

8/15/2017 06:58:22 pm
I have been going to King Richard's Faire since I was a young adult back in 1989. Now I am fortunate to have a wife, and 4 children (ages 7-20) who all enjoy the Faire as much as I do. It is the one and only thing that we all do together, with equal joy! THAT is what I love so much about King Richard's Faire! And though we can only afford to go once a year, we all look forward to it throughout the rest of the year! We drove by Carver just today, and my 7 year old wanted to camp out for the next 4 weeks to wait for the Faire to open....lol
8/15/2017 07:10:10 pm

Everything is great but I really do enjoy the jousting match
8/15/2017 07:39:33 pm
The best thing about KRF is literally everything! It's such an amazing atmosphere! It takes everything back to simpler times before we all started seeking entertaining from monster machine rollercoasters and other every day carnivals. People can express themselves here and show what they love! No judgement is amazing!
8/15/2017 07:43:52 pm
I love that the fair is family friendly, so much so my Father will travel all the way from Illinois to attend it!! Nothing like the excitement and environment they work so hard to produce anywhere else in New England!
8/15/2017 07:47:22 pm
Love love love picking out outfits- where else can I go corset shopping and have such an authentic variety to choose from?
8/15/2017 07:48:10 pm

It's the one time a year we get to fully indulge in being nerds, while at the same time feeling appreciated for serving this country.
8/16/2017 12:17:20 am
Our favorite part of the faire is the overall atmosphere! There is nothing like it. Whether it's at the joisting field or watching one of the stages or just walking around to admire the faire's great vibes, it's enjoyable, unique and easy to navigate all at once. This atmosphere also lets kids see that adults can have fun, too! We love it :-)

We haven't been to KRF for a long time but the kids would love it so we have to go back! I always loved the costumes and events. I am sure that my 2 daughters would love the shows, food, music and the interaction with the characters that you meet.

My kids like to wear costumes and the interaction they get from the Faire Actors is wonderful! My kids beg me to take them every year!

My favorite thing about King Richard's Faire has always been the sense of escape a day spent there provides. You can leave your worries in the parking lot, and just go be silly and get lost in another time, for a time.

Love everything about the faire. Especially the fact that my autistic son gets excited about it every year. But the absolute best has to be the show at the end with Jacques and Ses....the super secret show...or at least that's what they used to call it.

The best part is the jousting.

I love the food, the shows, the costumes, the entertainers, just everything about the faire. It's just like stepping out of time for a day and dreaming a fantasy. It's so much fun. We celebrated our first anniversary there and it used to be a yearly tradition, costumes and all. We have missed the last couple years due to the birth of our youngest children but we can't wait to be able to share our love of the faire with them some day.

I love seeing everyone all dressed up in their unique costumes, and browsing the many different shops. My absolute favorite part is seeing the wild animals.

Moss Def the pub sings, which in years past have tended toward the adult... versions. Esp. good with a turkey leg and a yard o' sumthin.

We love the jousting, the food, the punny banter, and the shopping. I'd love to see my husband compete in the kilt contest event!

I love the amazing family memories that can be made there. My sons' aunt was able to treat them to the fair for a couple years. This year we'd live to be able to treat her.
