The Back & Forth Book
by Tracy Lamperti, LMHC, BCETS
In the blink of an eye our children seem to go from little ones to NOT so little ones anymore. Sometimes parents realize that their child has arrived at the next developmental level, but the parent feels like something slipped away and the connection to their child has been broken.
Parents can use The Back & Forth Book with a child of any age that has begun communicating in written words. I have seen it be successful with first graders through high school.
The Back & Forth Book is used for communicating feelings and ideas. Generally speaking, it is not used for logistical issues, such as leaving notes like, “Please clean your room when you finish your homework.” or, “We need to discuss your grades.” It’s not that these topics may not come up in some way, but the purpose is not for you to use the book to assert your “parent” role or your child to assume their “child” role.
This is how The Back & Forth Book works;
I hope you will give this a try and post the benefits you are seeing at Cape Cod Mommies!
